Mission Statement:
The mission of the Maryland Chapter of the ACNM is to promote excellence of midwifery practice within a community of education and support. We encourage the development of our profession through the wisdom of midwifery in service to women, newborns, families, and communities.
Values:
The Maryland Chapter of the American College Nurse-Midwives supports the values of community, excellence, service, and wisdom.
Vision Statement:
The vision of the Maryland Chapter of the ACNM over the next four years (through 2010) is to:
• Be meaningful and relevant to the midwife community.
• Facilitate the Chapter as a circle of safety for sharing professional experiences.
• Develop dialogue with midwives across various routes to practice.
• Address the issue of practice autonomy by eliminating the written practice agreement requirement and establishing a Board of Midwifery.
• Have equitable share of Chapter work through mini-tasking.
• Maintain fiscal stability.
• Increase numbers of paid members.
• Develop an ongoing legislative agenda responsive to issues of concern to Maryland residents.
